Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. Blanton's is produced in the same single-barrel process used by Colonel Albert B. Blanton nearly a century ago when he produced his Private Reserve Bourbon. The single barrel process requires that no barrel be dumped until the Bourbon inside has reached its peak maturity, extracting only the proper amount of flavor from the wooden barrel. Since peak maturity will vary from barrel to barrel, Blanton does not blend Bourbon from different barrels as other producers do. Rather, the perfectly aged Bourbon in each individual barrel is bottled unblended. As a result, while our bottles carry no age statement, they contain a richer, more mellow, more refined Bourbon. The exacting science of the single-barrel process requires the constant monitoring of every barrel in our warehouse by Blanton's Master Distiller. And once ready for bottling, each barrel must be dumped and bottled by hand, which is reflected on the hand marked information on each label. It's a costly, painstaking way to produce bourbon. But it's the only way to achieve a product of quality and pedigree worth of the Blanton label. This singularly exceptional Bourbon is intended to be savored straight or on the rocks.
